Between August 19 and 21, the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS), supported by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Ministry of Transportation (MTO), held a three-day road safety blitz focusing on commercial motor vehicles (CMV).
Eighty-two CMV level 1 inspections were done, resulting in 36 CMVs being placed out of service (44% out of service) and 160 provincial offence notices being issued.
“These results speak for themselves in terms of both the need and effectiveness of these campaigns to identify and remove unsafe or unfit commercial motor vehicles from our roadways,” said Staff Sergeant Ryan Smith of the HRPS Traffic Services Unit.
The HRPS CMV Team will be participating in this week's Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliances North America-wide brake safety week.
